A REPORT FROM THE TREASURER May 2006
As usual, we did very well in the gifts we received from our regular contributors for the basic campaign and the Epiphany Vespers. In total we received $36,000. This can be broken down as follows: $26,000 from 85 donors ($306 on average) and $10,000 from 6 donors who gave larger gifts, including support for the Epiphany Vespers.
The 85 gifts from our core membership of Friends came, as usual, in many sizes: 11 persons gave $1000 or more (10 last campaign) 7 persons gave between $500 and $1000 (7 last campaign) 47 persons gave between $100 and $500 (19 last campaign) 20 persons gave up to $100 (27 last campaign)
All this is very good, but we must do much better next year. the total expenses for the budget year that will close in August 2006 are projected to total about $48,000. This includes $46,000 paid to the choir (including the Epiphany Vespers), and $2,000 in administrative expenses (for printing, xeroxing, and mailings, including costs associated with producing Notes and Neumes).
We were able to cover this year's $12,000 shortfall between gifts and expenses by using the reserve we had built up over the last campaign, particularly because of the Spring 2005 benefit. We will start the next campaign with no such reserve.
So, once again, we thank you very much but also appeal for your continued support.
Sincerely, Hervé Varenne Treasurer The Friends of Liturgical Music
