CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE

The Centennial Committee has been working since the summer on the preliminary steps for our centennial observance.  We think it's time for an update that will inspire you to come on board.  The celebration–which includes both the Church and the School–will run from October 2006 through October 2007, and much has to be done in the year and a half before then!

The committee has established the following areas to work on:

A liturgy that will include the various parts of our population,

from the youngest to oldest, in all its diversity.

A community outreach initiative that will bring new people into our church

and tell our neighbors about Corpus Christi.

A variety of spiritual programs and party dates throughout the year,

to involve all segments of the parish.

A publicity effort to invite the community to our celebrations

                    and help us raise awareness.

The writing of the parish history.

A fundraising effort to ensure the future of this beautiful church.

A nuts-and-bolts committee to assess the renovation needs and its price tag.

As you can see, we have already begun our work.  The new roof and the symbolic cleaning and restoration of our beautiful chandeliers provide a kickoff to what we hope will be a year that offers challenges and opportunities.  Corpus Christi's musical heritage is a strength that we are keeping in mind, so that non-parishioners who know and admire us for that outstanding achievement will be reached and included.  We are working on having a Mass composed especially for the centennial celebration, as well as other liturgical music to be sung by the congregation.  This website has been developed and will be continually updated.

So please take the time to support us–in your prayers and good

wishes if that is what you can give, or in your time and talent, which

we need to make this a full parish endeavor.  Join us as we come

together in prayer and work at this important time in our parish's

        history.

Fill out and return this form to Arlene Morgan, 560 Riverside

Drive, Apt. 4L, NY, NY 10027.  We will create a database of

volunteers so that we can call on your help as our committees are

formed around the areas we have outlined.   Contact us.
